Tobacco Free Michigan: Stay in the LOOP

TFM 2.0

Tobacco Free Michigan recently launched a new media campaign that will allow us to provide practically up-to-the-minute updates on tobacco control efforts in both our local and global communities.  By launching a blog and making use of social networking sites like Twitter and Facebook, TFM hopes to continue connecting advocates, local health departments, and everyday citizens who are passionate about tobacco control to our broad network of TFM members.  Check out some of our “new media” outlets:

image001.gifFacebook users can now become a fan of Tobacco Free Michigan on the popular social networking site. Tobacco Free Michigan has a Facebook page under Causes that shares information about action alerts, important legislation, as well as connecting local businesses and individuals who support TFM’s mission.  Fans can also share their videos and photos from local tobacco control events (such as MSU’s upcoming “Smoke Free Rally at the Rock”).  Check us out at www.facebook.com and share us with your friends.

image003.gifTobacco Free Michigan has also launched a blog which you can find at http://tobaccofreemichigan.blogspot.com.  The TFM blog provides news, action alerts, and updates about tobacco control and advocacy efforts in Michigan.  The blog is written largely from a personal perspective and ideally we’d like to use the blog as a forum for people’s personal stories and adventures in tobacco control advocacy.  We’re currently looking for guest bloggers and would love to hear what’s going on with your community.  How has smoking affected you and your life?  We want to hear from you.

image005.gifFor more frequent updates on what’s going on with TFM, check out our Twitter page at www.twitter.com/tobaccofreemi.  You never know what you’ll find at this miniblog site.  Sometimes we post articles of interest, action alerts, or links to the latest blog entry.  During important hearings on tobacco control (like the smoke free air laws currently in the House), look to the Twitter page for real time updates and conversations with over 100 “followers” already tuned in to TFM’s Twitter page.  This page is updated between 5-6 times daily and has really taken off since it was first launched in early March.
