Good-Bye Letter November 2010
November 2010
We’ve been having an on again, off again relationship for some time now. To be exact, we’ve been together for about 15 years. We separated for a year one time. Other than that you’ve been by my side night and day. I wake up to you and I fall asleep next to you. You’ve been there for me through good and bad time. You were definitely there for me when I was stressed. I found you to be a relief for all of my troubles. At times, I thought I couldn’t do anything without you. Like I said before, you’ve always been there.
Today, I’ve made up my mind. I no longer need you to comfort me when I’m having a bad day or stressed out. I can have a good time as well, without you. Therefore, today I‘m ending our relationship forever. I don’t need you in my life. You’ve hurt me for 15 years, but not any longer. So, I’m saying goodbye forever. I never want to smoke you again.
Goodbye Newport Kings for Life.

Clinical Practice Guidelines available in Spanish
Dear Colleagues:
On behalf of the U.S. Public Health Service Clinical Practice Guideline Panel and the Sociedad Española de Neumología y Cirugía Torácica, we are pleased to announce the release of Treating Tobacco Use and Dependence in Spanish.
This is the first time the entire PHS Guideline has been translated into Spanish. In past years, summaries were translated into Spanish.
Thank you to the Sociedad for its leadership, particularly the chair of this effort, Dr. Carlos Jiménez Ruiz, and to Panel Vice Chair Dr. Carlos Jaén for reviewing the translation.
There are four ways to access the Guideline in Spanish:
1. U.S. Surgeon General, http://www.surgeongeneral.gov/tobacco/
2. AHRQ, http://www.ahrq.gov/path/tobacco.htm
3. Sociedad Española de Neumología y Cirugía Torácica (SEPAR), http://www.separ.es/doc/publicaciones/tabaquismo/guia_tabaquismo_v_espanola.pdf
4. UW Center for Tobacco Research and Intervention (UW-CTRI), http://www.ctri.wisc.edu/Researchers/researchers_CPGupdate2008.htm
On the UW-CTRI site, you’ll also find additional Guideline and other information on tobacco treatment and dependence—collated for specific audiences, such as researchers, health-care providers, smokers, advocates, and employers. Visit www.ctri.wisc.edu.
